A woman from Leeds has shared her heartbreaking attempts to save a teenager’s life after he was stabbed and “dumped onto the street from a car”. The 19-year-old, named locally as Harry Abbot, was reportedly “stabbed before being dumped” onto a driveway in St Wilfrid’s Crescent, Harehills just after midday on Wednesday, October 8.
He was declared dead shortly afterwards. His next of kin has been informed. West Yorkshire Police have initiated a murder investigation, suspecting that the teenager was injured during a brawl in Seacroft.
They are currently investigating two separate scenes linked to his death, in Parkside View in Seacroft, and Amberton Crescent in Gipton.
A dark-coloured Ford Focus, believed to have been used in the incident, was later discovered in Gipton. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here
Harry was reportedly “thrown” out of the vehicle onto a driveway in front of a relative’s home.
An 18 year old woman has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder, reports Leeds Live.
Local residents in St Wilfrid’s Crescent have expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident. Among them is Tracy, who recounted her desperate efforts to save the young man’s life.
“I was doing compressions on his chest,” Tracy revealed. “It wasn’t good. I knew he’d gone. He was dead, I knew he was dead but I still tried. It’s just not a good thing. I just have these visions. Every time I close my eyes, I see his face. It’s been a big struggle today.”
Tracy, a resident of the street for approximately 40 years, expressed her shock and sadness at the incident. She said: “I’m sad for the lad. It’s a shock to the system. It’s just a sad thing for his parents and the rest of his family. It makes me feel like I don’t want to live here or in this house anymore, or on this street.”
Zohra Shazad, a mother of four, shared her fear and sympathy for the boy’s parents. She said: “It’s scary and I’m sad for the parents. It shouldn’t be happening. He was a nice lad. I hadn’t spoken to him but I had seen him. It was a big shock because he was my son’s age. It’s very sad. I can feel the parents’ pain because I am a parent myself. I wouldn’t want this to happen to anybody’s child.”
Ali Asghar, a father of four, described the situation as terrifying. He said: “It’s terrifying. I’ve never heard of something like this here, no murders of anything like that. I’ve lived here for about 10 years. It’s not good. It’s terrible, really. Really young lad. I have a lad at that age, as well. I feel sorry for the family.”
Patricia Pasti voiced her fear over the abnormality of the situation. She said: “I’m scared. It’s not normal. A young boy. This street is scary now, for me. I don’t know what’s happened, it’s not normal. It’s the first time I’ve seen this situation.”
Harehills councillor Mothin Ali expressed his shock and sadness, stating: “I’m really shocked and upset to hear of the incident that occurred yesterday in Gipton, my heart goes out to his family and friends. If anyone knows anything, please inform the police so we can help bring the killers to justice. The loss of such a young life is devastating for the local community and at times like this, despite our grief we must work together and be united.”
