PET owners are being warned to think about their furry friend’s food as they might be doing something that can lead to their animals getting sick.
Storing your pet’s food properly is something you might think you’re already doing correctly but a TikToker has shared a video about the importance of such a simple task.

The account @CoupleOfPaws follows a golden retriever named Rex and a Dalmation named Eiger and the adventures they have with their owners.
In their most recent video, Rex and Eiger’s owner shared that she found mold in the dog’s food and asks for help.
“So I know you’re not supposed to put food in a container that’s not airtight or food safe,” she said, adding that she didn’t think “it was that serious.”
She showed the container where the kibble is kept and explained that it has been empty for two weeks and showed that she bought a new bag of food and was going to dump it in.
“But look,” she said, showing the inside of the container and revealing that some of the leftover food had developed a white coating. “Literal mold.”
“Imagine I would have fed that to my dog,” the owner said. “That could have been really bad.”
She apologizes to Rex as she warns other dog parents to not put their dog’s food in a container.
“Leave it in the bag, put it in a bag, or put it in the container in the bag.”

Other pet owners in the comments gave their recommendations and warned others not to make the same mistake as the TikToker.
“Leave the dog food in the bag!!! Put the bag in the container!!” wrote one person.
Another person agreed, writing: “Dog food bags are made to help preserve the food!”
“Never take it out of the bag. Put the whole bag in a new container for next time and just keep on doing it that way every time,” wrote a third person.
Other commenters said they were unaware that containers could be dangerous for their pets and grew worried.
“New fear unlocked,” wrote one person.
“Running to check my dog’s food what the hell,” wrote another person.
A third person wrote: “Omg no!!! My dog’s food is stored in one of those!”
Some people suggested that the pet owner keep the bag the pet food came in in case there is a recall from the brand.
“So glad you caught this!!!” wrote one person. “Mold for dogs is VERY SERIOUS and kills fast!”
