With a huge number of AAA-titles including Spider-Man 2, Marathon, and Sword of the Sea on the roster, last night’s Playstation Showcase was one of the biggest yet.
But forget the games. What’s really got people talking is the mysterious new ‘Project Q’ which the gaming giant teased in a brief clip during the showcase.
It looks a little bit like Playstation’s answer to the Nintendo Switch, with a PS5 controller straddling a large display screen.

Apparently ‘Project Q’ will let you stream games from your console to the device over Wi-Fi.

The gadget, which is set for release later this year, presumably works in a similar way to Xbox Cloud Gaming, which lets gamers stream Xbox games to their phones or tablets.
It will only work with games already installed on the PS5, and won’t support PSVR 2 titles.
In a video, Sony said: “Later this year we will launch a dedicated device that enables [you] to stream any game from the PS5 console using remote play over Wi-Fi.

It added: “Internally known as Project Q, it has an eight-inch screen and all of the buttons and features of the dual-sense wireless controller.”
More details on Project Q are set to follow ‘in the near future’.
Other announcements at the Playstation Showcase included a 12-minute gameplay clip of Spider-Man 2, as well as a teaser of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, and ‘Marathon’, a new shooter from Halo creators at Bungie.
