Robinson Cano is back with the San Diego Padres.
Eight days after the group launched him, the Padres signed Cano to a small league agreement Friday.

The #Padres haveactually signed Robinson Canó to a small league agreement and appointed him to Triple-A El Paso.
“I think he desires to get some constant at-bats and see what’s there,” Padres supervisor Bob Melvin stated. “I talked to him for a little while, and he wasn’t getting constant at-bats in New York, he wasn’t here. He enjoyed being here with our men. He fit in actually well.”

Cano has had a difficult season. The 39-year-old was launched by the New York Mets in May after he appeared in simply 12 videogames, striking .195 with one homer and 3 RBI. The Mets still owed him $44.7 million of the 10-year, $240 million offer he signed with the Seattle Mariners after the 2013 season.
The Padres signed him lateron in May, though he didn’t fare muchbetter, striking .091 with an RBI in 12 videogames. Per R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports, the Padres “requested Cano’s consent to alternative him to the minors [June 2], however Cano had enough service time to turndown any optional project and choose complimentary firm rather.”
Cano, an eight-time All-Star, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner and a 2009 World Series champ, was one of the videogame’s preeminent offending 2nd baseman throughout his prime, striking 25 or more homers 6 times, consistingof in 5 of his 9 seasons with the New York Yankees.
He was suspended 80 videogames for a stoppedworking performance-enhancing drug test in 2018 while with the Mariners and the whole of the 2021 season for another stoppedworking test while with the Mets.
A 3rd stoppedworking test would lead to a lifetime restriction from Major League Baseball.
Cano hasn’t been an All-Star because 2017 and has appeared in just 260 videogames because the start of the 2018 season. Now, he’ll shot to make his method back to the huge leagues.
