Princess Diana’s title has been passed to Catherine ( Kate Middleton)
In his first public address as monarch, King Charles III confirmed the title change.
As he began his speech, he praised his mother and thanked her for all she had done. King Charles III, who succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth II on September 9, passed the title of Prince of Wales to his son, Prince William. Princess Diana, William’s mother, held the title prior to her death in 1997, and so naturally Kate, as William’s wife, was dubbed the new Princess of Wales.
How does Kate think about the new name? Sources close to the royal family say that the 40-year-old “admires the history associated with this role, but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path.”
A royal source has stated,
“The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the modest and humble way that they’ve approached their work previously,” and that they are “focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time.”

The king continued by addressing his son and heir, William, and confirming that he, along with his wife, Kate, would succeed to the thrones of both Wales and Scotland as Prince William and Duke of Cornwall, respectively.
