The band fulfilled the Duke of Sussex in September 2014 when they were asked to carryout at the closing show of the Invictus Games, which the royal established. Speaking on “The Howard Stern Show,” lead vocalist Dave Grohl remembered how Prince Harry hilariously slapped Hawkins on the cheek priorto they took to the phase.
“He smacked Taylor in the face one time. How tough was that smack in the face?” he asked, to which Hawkins responded, “It pme off really.” The drummer described that he required that slap to stay awake since he had just 2 hours of sleep at that time.
“We were playing someplace in England and we had simply flown over and I actually had 2 hours sleep. We were doing a program in some ambassador’s back lawn or something, and [Harry] strolled in and he had a lot of his individuals around him,” Hawkins keptinmind.
He continued, “And he goes ‘How are you doing?’ and I’m like ‘I can’t wake up. I’m so tired [but] I’ve got to play.’ And he goes ‘BAM!’,” as he gestured the slap throughout his face.
The artist remembered how he responded to the slap as he informed Prince Harry, “You motherfr.” The royal then asked, “Are you awake now?” and Hawkins simply responded, “yeah.”
“I mean I got slapped in the face by the prince. That’s fine if you believe about it. But in the minute I was like ‘He fing slapped me,” he shared.
Hawkins passedaway last week Friday, March 25 in Bogota, where Foo Fighters was due to carryout at a music celebration. The cause of death is still unidentified although initial toxicology findings revealed 10 traces of compounds in his body, consistingof cannabis and opioids. The band revealed his passing in a declaration and fans, pals, and coworkers have giventhat revealed their acknowledgements.
