Wakefield’s DIY celebration returns…
Wakefield is a gem in the corner of West Yorkshire. Famous for its historical landmarks, genuine sense of neighborhood and earnest love for culture, art and music. This past weekend saw the city come together to commemorate music both from regional acts and those who tookatrip afar for the return of yearly DIY celebration, Long Division.
Arriving of the train at Wakefield station, variety of individuals make their method up the curving streets of the lovely city, all gearedup with programs showing the days line-up.
Nine places hosted a plethora of entertainers, with live music center Venue 23 being the setting for headliners Sea Power and Field Music. Clash captured beginners and Alan McGee signed The Clockworks at the regional hotspot.
Following the Clockworks high energy set, we make a brief uphill walk through Wakefield’s high street to the Vortex. The location is a dream for anybody wanting to live out a punk rock dream. Situated above a metal dive bar, the Vortex was sponsored by BBC presenting. Clash captured the end of Leeds based vocalist Mollie Coddled who, dressed in a vibrantly coloured boiler fit, radiated the location with indie sleaze through tracks such as justrecently launched ‘Burden’.

Shortly after, Wakefield locals Mi Mye arrive. The little phase was a capture as it hosted the five-piece and their large selection of instruments. Playing a brief however dynamic set that showcased their folk, indie music.
