Lea Michele is set to change Beanie Feldstein in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl.
Hours after Feldstein revealed she would be leaving the production earlier than anticipated due to manufacturers taking the program in a “different instructions”, the previous Glee star was validated to be taking over the lead function as Fanny Brice in the phase musical.
“A dream come real is an understatement. I’m so extremely honored to signupwith this remarkable cast and production and return to the phase playing Fanny Brice on Broadway,” she composed on Instagram following the news.
Feldstein will bow out on 31 July, with Julie Benko standing in upuntil Michele takes over on 6 September. In addition, Tony Award-nominated starlet Tovah Feldshuh will change Jane Lynch as Mrs Brice.
On Sunday night, Feldstein took to Instagram to share that playing Fanny hadactually been a “true honour” and that leaving was an “extremely tough choice”.
“I will neverever forget this experience and from the bottom of my heart, I desire to thank every single individual who came to the August Wilson (Theatre) for the love and assistance you haveactually revealed me and our remarkable cast and team,” she mentioned. “The individuals I have had the excellent delight of bringing Funny Girl to life with every night, both on and off the phase, are all extremely talented and remarkable people and I hope you continue to signupwith them on Henry Street after I leave on July 31st.”
The Lady Bird star got combined examines when the production opened, with critics unfavourably comparing her to Barbra Streisand, the initial Fanny Brice. She was snubbed by the Tony Awards and the program just got one election in overall.
