Jussie Smollett has rapped about his court case in a brand-new tune.
The Empire star was sentenced to 150 days in prison after he was foundedguilty of 5 counts of disorderly conduct for presumably staging a hate criminaloffense versus himself back in 2019.
After 6 days behind bars, his attorney appealed the conviction and he was launched on bond.
Now, Smollett has pointed to the occurrence and its effect on his “reputation” in a track entitled Thank You God that was launched through Instagram on Friday.
“It’s like they’re hellbent on not fixing the criminaloffense / Taking out the aspects of race and trans and homophobia that’s directly taking lives / But turn around and act like I’m the one that eliminated the strides,” he starts.
In the track, Jussie declares he was neverever “chasing the influence” with his actions.
“Just keepinmind this…this ain’t that scenario / You believe I’m foolish adequate to kill my credibility? / Just merely to appearance like a victim, like it’s something enjoyable? / Y’all muchbetter appearance at somebody else, you got the incorrect one,” the 39-year-old continues.
While he acknowledged “the individuals who kept it genuine, who kept it real,” Jussie took a minute to call out those who sided versus him, with the lyrics including, “The story they played / I truly over-stand the factor why y’all felt betrayed.”
In the accompanying caption, Jussie stated that all continues from the tune will go to The Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Illinois Innocence Project, and Secure The Bag Safety.
