A huge Welsh country hotel is undergoing a massive £3 million refurbishment and will be temporarily closed while the work takes place. The well-known and well-loved Castle of Brecon Hotel will be closed for the winter as it undergoes a full refurbishment.
Built in the remains of Brecon Castle, and already a stunning hotel and wedding venue as well as being the oldest hotel in Wales, The Castle of Brecon offers a restaurant, bar and meeting and function spaces, all with stunning riverside views and glimpses of Bannau Brycheiniog. Now the hotel will be closed until spring 2025 as the rooms, restaurant, bar and public areas will all be fully renovated.
Part of the award-winning Coaching Inn Group, the latest move to reimagine The Castle of Brecon Hotel is part of the group’s mission to refurbish and revitalise historic inns to create elegant, comfortable and industry-leading accommodation. Adam Charity, chief operating officer of Coaching Inn Group, said: “This is an exciting new chapter for the iconic and historic Castle of Brecon Hotel.

“Brecon is a truly beautiful part of Wales, with a rich history and sense of community. This refurbishment will be a complete transformation throughout the property, complimented by a new offer with a local touch. We cannot wait to welcome locals, and guests from further afield, to showcase the changes we will be bringing to this stunning property.”
The hotel currently has 43 individual bedrooms and is already closed in preparation for the renovation. As advertised on their website the hotel will also be welcoming new menus to their restaurant once the renovations are complete.
