Angel Olsen on being affected by movie and dreams while making Big Time:
I think it’s part of my method of processing. And whenever I’m going through a tough time or going through a lot of modification, I tend to dream more than other times. A lot of my music videos are truly based on dreams I’ve had or brilliant images that I believe of when I’m writing. If I weren’t for music, I’d mostlikely be making movies. Not acting in them. There is some acting in what I’m doing now, however at least I get control of the edit at the end of the day.
Angel Olsen on recording Big Time at Neil Young’s studio:
Well, it’s what you would picture Neil Young’s studio being like, you understand? So it was simply kind of the ideal setting. And I hadactually been listening to a lot of Neil Young. It was so gorgeous. You walk out of this wood paneled studio in the canyon and go outside, and there’s a picnic table and trees. And there’s a little bridge where water comes through and there’s simply a stunning hillside behind the entire thing. I believe that the environment truly assisted make the experience of recording this circulation more for me and for everybody. The concept of going to the beach every day priorto going to the studio sounded truly good. That doesn’t constantly noise great. Sometimes I’m actually allset to work and be in a box and not see anybody. But for these tunes, I truly idea they’re so basic and so simple. It was actually about simply recording them the right method and making sure we didn’t overdo it.
